Will it work or ruin the trans.

Hi everybody, I haven't posted lately, been busy with family . Now with a show coming up I wanted to ask a ?. I have a trike that I built out of a 85 Tempo with a 2.3 automatic trans. The show is in Key West about 23 miles from from my place on Cudjoe Key. Is it possible to tow a vehicle with automatic trans if the motor is running with the trans in neutral? I know you may think I am crazy but I have three vehicles in the show . Will it destroy the trans by towing an automatic with the engine running?

Thanks for any info that you can give Jim

For this occasion, you should be fine doing it that way. The main key is keeping lube pressure. For future times, they do make electric pumps for towing vehicles behind rv's and such so that the trans can maintain lube pressure.

If nothing more, post the photos on a site like photobucket and link it here... You look to be approaching the minimum posts required to post pics. Generally, it is better to post them in your gallery and link them to the thread, or from a site like photobucket.

If you're only going 20 miles...I'd say you'd be fine. That said, I've seen in various Ford towing instruction pamphlets, that you shouldn't go beyond 10-15 miles...and the max speed should be 35mph...just food for thought. But if it were me...I'd do it...just have to be smart about it.

Got the message, just towing 23 miles not over 45 50 mph max. Just a small show but I have so much junk , but like to show it all whenever I can,the main reason is M.C. = no ins just the tag . Just having fun in Key West Fl at the Schooner Wharf Bar . Thanks again Jim
