White Spoke 8 Lug 16" Rims

I've been having the hardest time finding 8 lug white spoke rims. The back axle is what gives me a problem. I was told it's a Dana 60 free floating axle. All I can say is the center piece sticks out about 5 inches. Has anyone else found a place that has these. New or used is fine. I keep getting the aluminum alloy ones in my searches.:headbang:

I think National Parts Depot carries those too.

Those are what I'm running--with a Dana 60 too. No problems.

I had American Racing center caps on them until they got banged up. I took them off and I'm not running any caps now. I kind of like the no cap look now.

Most any place that sells rims should be able to get them. The trailer rims that are 8 bolt also work. They all have the larger center hole, so they will work. It is only factory issue rims from older Chevies that give troubles.

You've gotta 3/4 ton bro. 1/2 tons don't need that much pulling power so they don't require the heavy duty suspension and brute strength that a Dana 60 can offer. 9" rearends are great, don't get me wrong, but I'd gladly swap one for a D60.

On a side note, why does the axle stick out so far when on others of the type don't?
I understand it's a heavier, beefier axle, but what's the point of having it stick out further? seems like it should be strong enough once it gets passed the rim. cosmetic, man factor?

Gotta have something to bolt the axleshafts into I suppose.

Agreed. It's a free floating axel, so the shafts can be pulled out with the wheels on the ground. I would think that's a reason for them sticking out further--to get past the wheel.

knowing nothing about axles, your answers sound convincing. thanks

It is because there are two bearings inside the hub, which are supported by the axle tube. In a half ton, you have one bearing out at the end of the tube, and one at the carrier. The 3/4 and 1 ton hubs are as called, floaters as the axle itself does not support the wheel, the axle tube does. You can unbolt the axle and pull it out with the truck on the ground, and not taking the tire off. Try that with a half ton... the two bearing system handles more weight that the axle shaft/single bearing can.
