What's different inside the starters, man and auto?

I'd like to know whether I can convert an auto transmission starter to
a manual starter by simply buying parts and installing them.

I'd answer my own question but I gave my manual starter away.
...even bought some brushes for it, then couldn't find it. LOL

Thought I was going to use the new-looking rebuilt one for Napa when
I gave it away. I bought a new manual starter drive already is that
all that needs changing out, by any chance?

If no one knows, I'll just buy one and take it apart and answer the
silly question myself. LOL

Only real difference I would think is potentially the mounting. Internals and drive should be the same. I can try and remember to get a look at them tomorrow at work to see if I can spot any difference.

I'd really appreciate that.

I do know Standard and others have two different drives even tho the tooth
count and diameter of the flywheel and flex plate ring-gears are the same.

Thanks guys for tryin', so here's a picture for ya...

left = manual transmission and right = automatic

The one on the right is a rebuilt from NAPA and came with the '91 Bronco.
The one on the left is from Checker and doesn't even look as good on the
-outside- as the NAPA. LOL I haven't got around to opening them yet
but always do that just to make sure.
