What kind of oil shoud I use?

Just an FYI...you can get 2 gallons of Rotella 15w-40 for $22 and a MC filter for $3. Can't say I know much about the MC oil, I'm sure it'll be just fine, just a heads up from someone that gets the most for his money. It only saves you a couple of bucks, but as noted, I'm a cheap bastard.
I did some math and the Rotella is cheaper by $2 over 2 gallons, Motorcraft is Valvoline oil btw. I have no idea if they have 10W-30/40 in the Rotella gallons though.

^^^yeah...so not much difference. But when it comes to flat tappet engines, the rotella is a superior oil. So in my case, a superior oil and it's cheaper, it's a no brainer. Rotella does has 10w-30 in gallon form.

I'm pretty sure mine is flat tappet as well but I might be wrong, isn't rotella a "Diesel" oil.

Ok...don't know much about the late 80's 302's. Anyway, yes, I guess it is a diesel oil...but the additives and whatnot in the oil provide better protection and are a tried and true oil for flat tappets.

Yes it is a diesel oil but works great in a a gas engine. They have reduced the zinc in it but it's still better than the new oils.

I got the plug wires, I'll post a picture up later. I'm very impressed with Summit's shipping, I ordered them 7:00 Monday and it was here at about 4:30 today, plug I got a coupon for 20 bucks off a purchase of 1000 dollars.

I use snake oil in all my vehicles :D
Well if it was coming from any one other then you D I wouldn't believe it, but if you say the stuff works great I have to give it some weight ;)
I use RP in well, every thing from rear to front even the blinker fluid :D

Just Ordered a Air Filter, MSD Cap and Rotor, MSD Coil, Anti-Seize, Dielectric Grease, and Spark Plug Gapper. Saved 20 bucks with Summit Bucks from last order.

yes Taylor... your engine just like all the other Truck 302's and 351's, is a Hydraulic Flat Tappet Cam... the HO 302's that came in cars has the Hydraulic Roller HO cam...

94+ 351s are roller motors, no idea about the 302's

I use Mobile 1 10w30/40(whatever they have) for the F350/Bronk/Stang
Fram Filters(yea dont say anything, I know how yall stand)
And in my moms car/protege/gfs saturn, they get Quaker State, 10w30/40 high mileage oil.

I saw WMart has that Roletta in syn for cheap too, but since you have to get 2 of them, i might be using that next time.

This order is FedEx but the last was UPS, maybe it has something to do with the dielectric grease being considered hazardous.

Hey Ben little rusty on this but... I remember some time back when i was on the "other" site there was a thread about oils, and there was allot of talk about the Zinc in most of the oils rotella included was going to be greatly reduced, you remember any thing about this? its amazing what happens to your memory when they start cutting on your spinal cord long with other things..
i remember some oil gurus warning people that they were going to need use a zinc additive after a certain date in older none roller engines...?

Any hydraulic flat tappet motors need the extra Zinc on break in so it dont eat the lifters. Far as I know valvoline racing oil is the only oil left that has enough zinc left in it to not have to run an addative. Mostly concerns freshly rebuilt motors or motors with new cam once the cams broke in and has a few thousand miles the zinc content dont matter.

You're 100% right, they did cut back...still better than most though.

^^^Agreed...you still need the additive for break in at the very least.
