what is this thing next to te coil??

i dont have any pics of my coil now so i borrowed one from 95F350XL

what is this little barrel looking like thing next to the coil?? mine had a wire going into it but now its broken.. what does it do ? will this broken wire of mine cuase anything?? thanks !

No idea. I learned it way back in school and now I forgot.

It's a capacitor, it absorbs the voltage spikes...

It depends, because every once in a while they short out and cause no starts... they were used back in the point days, not sure what necessity they are for the elecronic system, other than smoothing out the volts a bit, but you could try it, and if things go haywire, disconnect it again. Just remembered, it is also called a condensor, in the event you go to get a new one.

lol... and what is its job ?

It is for your Radio, if you do not have a Radio in the truck you will not need it.
There could be a noise in your speaker if it is not hooked up.
