There must be more than a couple as Concorde and East Penn are not the same.
And ive said it before and i will say it again.....the best battery is one of those 2.

I also stand corrected

There are 3 companies that produce all of the main brand car batteries in the US, though you will find many different brands to choose from.

I had a battery in my BII for 14 years. Can't remember the make.

If the batteries didn't go bad, no one would buy new ones and the battery makers would go out of business.

I changed a water heater in my dads house that was 48 years old when it finally started leaking. A little research showed that the company made the best water heaters for years. They went out of business because no one bought a new WH.

Must have been pretty soft water?

All batteries will go dead..nature of the beast. However, AGM units will last the longest.

My Duralast 'Silver' from Auto Zone has lasted 6 years in my 78 150 straight six, but is tired out. What do you all think is the best battery. I've been looking at the CarQuests models and some seem to like the DieHard, but as it is $100 bucks is my limit . . . I'm not going for top of the line.
I do prefer to have the 'NON' maintanence free tops that I check myself. Otherwise a good return and warrenty are nice features.

Autozone doesn't sell a "Silver" battery, only the cheap Valucraft, Duralast, and Duralast gold as well as Optimas and Duralast AGMs. (I work there pt). I think Advanced labels their mid grades "Silver". In my experience in swapping out sometimes more than 10 batteries a day, wal-mart is the worst and motorcraft is the best. Most of the motorcraft batteries have been over 6 years old. I think the best bang for the buck is the Duralast Gold (3 year free replacment + 5 years of proration warranty)... AGM's are a waste of money in my opinion unless your baja'ing or constantly driving in extreme harsh rough conditions. I put a 35DLG in my 76 F-100 and fits performs perfectly.

I know they are not in your price range, but I have had excellent performance from my Optimas, in everything from extreme heat to extreme cold.

If you have the coin for Optimas....it's not a whole lt more for a Concorde.

I have honestly never heard of them until you mentioned them... What is the difference?

Overall contruction...plates, case..etc...they were/are a pioneer in AGM technology.
They are OEM suppliers to many aircraft companies and very big in the solar/off grid applications.

Bought a reman battery from the Battery Exchange for the F150 this summer. 850CCA, $65 installed. No issues- it works, great bang for the buck, IMO.

I have been known to use the Duralast Gold 65 series to jump start vehicles.... works better than a jump pack! Our jump pack actually failed to start a customer vehicle with a bad battery. Hooked up the jumpers to one of the 65 DLG's and it fired right up.
