what do you think of body lifts

I was thinking about ordering a 3inch body lift for my truck that way i could put some 38/14.5/16.5 under it

They're good for added access to the engine, they're good for extra tire clearance...beyond that, anything they add is negative.

I'd put a limit at 2".

^^^Just a matter of leverage...you have to put alot of faith in the hardware you use to keep the body attached during an unfortunate incident. Use grade 8 hardware. As for actual height laws, no state allows a body lift bigger than 4", and most don't allow anything larger than 3".

I'm special????? I dunno, how would you like me to answer that. I suppose it's something I've picked up on one of my 4x4 sites, much like I pick up info here. It's a rarely enforced law, but can be hefty fine. Sift through your DMV site, you'll find it...I know it's there, but in case you don't feel like it, TN is a max of 4".

how do you know what the states allow? I've never heard of that law.......

Ever heard the phrase 'lift laws suck,' well the height of a vehicle can be regulated state to state, and BL's seem to have generally the same accepted laws.

Not specific to BL's, but here's a smidgen of info to gnaw on for a little while:

Like I said, if you're looking for more, look through each state's DMV manuals, hop on pirate and search...all sorts of good info.

yea ive run into a statey that liked to enforce the lift law here in new hampshire its 30" to the bottom of bumper brackets, kinda sucks but i was also told by officials if it looks like a p o s then theyll stop ya or if your screwing around being unsafe, but if you being good and it dont look like itll fall apart they really wont bother ya

theyre good if you need to get your hands and tools in places you couldnt with stock form. engine trans gas tank, tire clearance, etc. shoot me and my truck survived a 70+ wreck off the highway with all the bolts still intact with the body still in place i got a 3 incher on mine with 6 suspension, but dont go doing that when you put the body on
