Vacuum Stuff behind the Dash

Howdy fellas. I'm gonna ask a rather ambiguous question. I replaced the vacuum lines/hoses behind the dash a month or so ago and it still didn't fix my vacuum issues with the HVAC system. I still hear a major sucking sound and progressivley getting worse. I see two brass colored things that look like fuel filters kinda and have a vacuum 'plunger' thing on one end and they are hooked up to the hoses. I think one or both of these are the culprit, can someone please tell me what these things are called and possibly where I can get them? I've looked through my JBG and DC catalogs and don't see anything that looks similar. Sorry for being so vague, but any and all help is appreciated.

I think they're vacuum motors. They operate the doors to your defrost and floor air... as for where to get em... hmm let me try and put my search talents to use.

Thanks Charles. And that would explain the issues as to why with good vacuum the system would work decent but as vacuum diminished all I could get was defrost.

The vacuum keeps the doors open...so yeah if the vacuum is not working well, they'll shut close on ya

Thanks Charles...still need a confirmation on what those parts are actually called though. I'm not getting any hits from vacuum motor to vacuum switch to vacuum thingy to dash vacuum parts, etc.

Did you see the link I posted?

Alright hopped on DC online...and I think I found one of the parts, and it's called a Heater water control valve and it also looks like a Vacuum Switch Valve could be a potential culprit as well.

referencing for later...go back to page 69 on DC catalog online.

Don you're a funny SOB

Ben, I think I even saw them not too long ago at Kragen/Oreillys. My truck has the same problem.

Thanks man...pretty steep prices for them parts huh? The switch is like $50 and the other is like $25...at least they were more than I was expecting.

I know it's why I haven't bought them yet, plus I think I have to replace my carb and manifold. You could always try a junkyard? I think they would charge like $3 for them, you could get a bunch of them and see if one is still good, but I dunno if that's worth the time lol.

Good call...I know a couple places that has a good stock of dentsides, dunno if they're 78/9 (apparently those switches changed). And around here, if it fits in your pockets it's free...although we do have a $1-2 entrance fee.

That's good, I'd just grab a bunch of them and swap them in and out, I might do the same instead of paying $50 for them.
