I'd say the problem lies in the Vacuum switch valve on your controls. But, a good test to see if those other vacuum actuators or whatever are working is to unhook the vacuum line, push in on the door (if you can get to one) while holding your finger over the hole. The door should stay somewhat open. It shouldn't just fall immediately closed. I've always seen the vacuum switch go bad before the others.

Alright hopped on DC online...and I think I found one of the parts, and it's called a Heater water control valve and it also looks like a Vacuum Switch Valve could be a potential culprit as well.

referencing for later...go back to page 69 on DC catalog online.

That is a vacuum actuated valve that is inline with the heater hose under the hood. It turns the flow of hot water on/off when you flip the switch to the heater core.

Thanks for the input guys...got digging around in there today and one of the ports on the switch partially broke. I got the hose back on and the problem went away, however, the switch seemed fairly brittle so I'm gonna order a new one. Thanks again for the help.

I was having the same symptoms.
My tin-can reservoir was leaking.

IMO, the way I found the problem is worth it to you to use,
-before- buying a single dangged part.

I used a hand vacuum pump and system tester.
Figured my vacuum motors were leaking and was looking into
part numbers and all that for replacements turns out -none-
of them leak -at all-! :) The tool saved me from buying any
parts.

This is sort of like hunting electrical problems without a meter.

Don't 'member paying this much but this is the kit I got...

...it's a good quality and useful tool, it'll pay for itself! :)

All I can say is I sure glad I got one and got a good one. :)
Was useful working on the '91 F150's emission systems too.

Ben you should take some pictures :)

Doesn't look too difficult, but if pics are requested, they'll be coming.
