Truck shifts hard from 1st to second

Hi, I am new to this forum but have heard that this is a very useful site and am glad to have found it. I am hoping someone out there might be able to help with my problem. I have a 1990 f250, automatic transmission that shifts hard from first to second (right about when the speedometer hits 13mph).It doesn't shift hard every time but enough that I want to check it out. When the outside temperature is cold it seems to shift better. I changed the transmission fluid and filter and that seemed to help. The truck has 80,000 original miles on it. The previous/original owner seemed to take pretty good care of the truck. I have had the truck for about a year and this problem has only recently started. I am hoping there are some things that I might try before taking it to a transmission shop and paying big bucks. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

just to eliminate the obvious, check the fuses. i had a problem like yours my trans e4od would shift rough from first to second and second to first, i've replaced the fuse and since shifts like a charm.

Be good to know which trans we are dealing with, C6 or E4OD? C6 is non-overdrive.
