Towing trouble

yes it is a 351m, that sounds like a much easier swap, maybe I will do that, just need to figure out whether to get used engine or a remaufactured long block, or maybe I could turn mine into a 400. Did they retard the cam timing on those like they did the 351m?

Food for thought...might be worth digging for a used 400...it's been my experience you can find good runners for dirt cheap from the 460 swap guys. I've literally been given 6 400's in the past from guys off a local board...and I've never paid more than $225, and that was a pretty sweet little set up with generic go fast goodies.

Thanks for the advice, I will have to think about it for a while and do some more research. I am leaning towards getting a decent used 400 , putting in a cam/timing set and using the intake+carb and headers I already have on my 351. I should be able to do all this myself seeing as how I managed to replace the entire cab. I learned how expensive garages get with this kind of stuff with my car.

I have a warmed up 400 in my 78 (edelbrock carb and intake, rvcam, and headers) and it definatly is a powerhouse.

If you can find a cheap good running 400 go for it....but i would be leary of some of them because of oiling problems. Ive never had oiling problems but ive heard of people who have.
