Afraid you were gonna melt? smilietease smilietease

No...but it becomes extremely interesting walking in a rain water/oil mix with bare feet and then standing on chair or step stool. Not to mention, it made holding tools a lot more difficult.

Do ya have vacuum goin to your vacuum advance? Also try to suck on it and see of the pressure bleeds off if it holds the diaphram inside is fine.

Thanks Dan...I'll give it a try, but at the moment it doesn't matter, sheered the cam bolt so I get drop a few bones and wait for it to get here.

Also another thing that I thought of make sure your cap dont twist at all when its clamped down. Id do this easy stuff while your waitin on the cam stuff that way its already fixed or checked when ya get it.

Hey fellas...I apparently just can't win. Today on the way home from work, I smelled the gas again and a reeeeeeal bad stutter, which I thought was a carb issue previously stated in another thread. Well, driving to the gf's house, the Bronco seemed like it was on it's death bed...acting like it jumped time...again. Sure enough, I get a light on it, and it was advanced about 25-30* further than I set it. If you recall, about a month ago, I replaced the timing set with a new Comp Cams double roller set...but wasn't thrilled with the quality. I doubt any teeth broke or the chain stretched over the course of a month, but I guess it's possible. So what are the other possibilities? Sheared dizzy gear? But I didn't figure I'd be able to get it resarted if that were the case? Cam bolt backed out? Didn't think it would hold a consistent time then? Any other ideas or suggestions for me? Thanks in advance.

Ben, I found this troubleshooting tip in the '78 ford manual. Not saying that is your problem, but it's worth checking out. Read Appendix "A" section.

Thanks for that Doug. I'll check in on the ignition module because everything else is new. That being said, when I dropped the new distributor in, the timing went back to normal, but it still ran like crap. I'm so confused. I'm about ready to just open the whole thing back up again and go from there.

How much space is there underneath the ICM ?

There should be about a 1/4" for air flow to cool it.

The newer ones actually come with at least a 5/16" block molded onto the bottom of the ICM. I guess they finally got the message???????????
