I'm going to look at this tomorrow. 351 auto, dealer air, original interior is blue (as was body, but painted white years ago) He sent me pictures of the interior and engine; really original with original Ford stickers still on Valve covers. Supposedly everything works really well except for AC. Tool box was converted into another gas tank area. No rust... We will see!

The ad says that's a four-speed.

Oops! You are correct! The other one for $900 was the auto and not 4x4... I want the 4speed. The only thing about the white one is I wish it was a short bed with an inline 6, but they are rare, rare, rare, and the ones I have seen are beat to S*&^... I'll bring my camera and post pics (if he hasn't sold it, that is, it's the best buy I've seen in these parts for a 4X4 in this supposed shape)

Took me 14-15 months before I found mine. Then it was on the other side of the continent

What do you guys think of this one? A little pricey for the economy and for being in the North East, but I love the blue color. A little more rust than I'd like, but the frame in the pic anyways, looks good. Why not more pics either? So far away. Also, my favorite grills are the 73-77, wasn't a fan of the square headlights and altered grill in 78 and 79.

And this one is just plain STUPID:

What a waste!

Wait...Ford made short bed super cabs? I'd believe a boat that big with a 300 would be tough to come by, but I don't think I've even ever heard of a short bed super cab.

I'm thinking he's using camera tricks. The frame looked good, but every thing else underneath looked to have a good coat of rust on it.

Well I went and saw it tonite. Sorry, he didn't want me to take more pictures for some reason. It started right up and after the lifter noise went away it ran pretty smooth. I was only able to drive it a few feet back and forth. The clutch, tranny and hub locks were smooth but I wasn't able to really try the 4x4 or transmission out of 1st gear and reverse, as it has not been on the road or registered for over a year. He says "t will pass smog" with the explanation that "the guys that did the work are not allowed to test it, so it has to go to a test only site". Actually, in CA the seller is required to provide a smog certificate for vehicles they sell, so whatever. Not falling for that one.Filthy and beat and torn in the cab, bed and under the hood (there were black widow webs everywhere under the hood) the door panels are falling off, the dealer added AC controls are falling out of the dash, the compressor missing, dash cut up with after market stereo, the turn signals do not work, spongy brakes, exhaust pipe (single) has holes, etc., etc., . He said he priced it "per the other ones I say on craigslist". He must be on crack. The body is 'ok" with no real rust issues other than surface in the bed, but the whole truck REALLY needs paint. The original dark blue is showing through everywhere under the cheap white repaint. It is not NEARLY as clean as the pictures show. In fact the bed was full of junk. Needs upholstery and dash repair, all new rubber seals, including the supercab windows from being in the desert for so many years. The tool box door has a hole drilled in it and a wood screw through it to hold it shut over the mickey mouse installed 3rd gas tank in there. Rear bumper is aftermarket (I think) and the brackets are bent downward. Tank valves don't work. All in all I actually liked it, but it's too rough for me to begin with at this point. In this market out here he won't sell it at that price. To me it was a $2,000 truck at best and I'd have to put easily another $2,000 to make it worth driving around and road worthy. So it's on to the next one!

Actually, in CA a used car dealer, not a private seller is required to provide a smog certificate for vehicles they sell.
In CA, the seller is responsible for the vehicle to pass smog. A private seller provided smog certificate is worthless.

Privately purchased vehicles: Since the new owner of the vehicle has to have it smog tested, the certificate is issued in the name of the new owner.

Sorry to hear that Dak. I hate CL camera magic...you think you're gonna get a steal of a life time only to find out it's junk. Sounds to me like it's about $1500 truck...maybe a little more simply because it's a SC.

Actually Bill, the CA DMV website does not specify dealer or private seller. Only that the seller is responsible for it. http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/smogfaq.htm#BM2537 The certificate is issued against the vehicle, not to the person buying or selling, and is electronically issued directly to the DMV from the test site. (I've done this twice in the last 3 months) All the seller gets is the results of the test, which of course could be a fraud. But it's easy to find out through the DMV if there is a valid smog certificate on file for a vehicle that is being sold.
