Buddy's girlfriend's Taurus. '97/'98 or so...and they've been hard years. Saying the thing is in rough shape is being generous.
Anyway- he's been complaining about the brakes for a while now, and tonight I got to experience the issue.
When under light-moderate, steady brake pressure and with the wheel turned (such as pulling forward into a parking space) the pedal will lightly pulse/grind with a bit of noise. Not like a full ABS engagement, but the closest thing I can compare it to is maybe 20% of what it feels like when ABS kicks in.
I know she had new brakes put in it a few weeks ago; I think the problem existed before that, but I'll check that with him.
My best guess is that maybe the wire to the ABS is getting pinched when the wheel is turned and shorting out, but not making good enough contact to "fully" engage the system. I don't know enough about ABS to know if that makes any sense, though.
Any advice?
