will a steering column out of a 1984 F-150 work in a 1977 F-150?

No, I just need a different one because the shifter is broke off the one in the 77. I'll just use the '84 column until i get a new one for the 1977.

I have one from a 75 here you can buy or go whole hog and buy one of the Tilt columns I have.
They are both for automatics

The 75 is straight bolt in the

the Tilt will require NSS modifcation

I dont really know what broke...it was broke when I got it.

Alright, Will a steering column out of a 78 f150 bolt right in? I expect the wiring will be different though right?

Wiring should be the same, the ignition switch is still in the dash. I would think it should be a direct fit.

No, the 78 C6 has the NSS mounted on it. On the 77 the NSS is on the column

Ah, ok, not quite direct wiring. Doable, but not a direct match. Forgot about that. You have the choice of bypassing the NSS, or setting one up on the trans if it has the capability.

Neutral Safety Switch

The column on the older trucks had the switch under the dash on the column. This didn't necessarily mean the transmission was in park or neutral, only that you had selected it. The later safety switch was moved to the trans, that way, the trans truly was in park or neutral when you try to start it, or it won't start.
