Hey, guys--I was replacing the turn signal/flasher unit in my steering column today. Got it all back together (even got my horn working again, too), bolted the steering wheel back down, went to start it and no start. All the flashers, signals, electric seemed to be working, but no ignition.
So, I thought maybe I had messed up something in the parking lockout in the shifter and sure enough, something was binding when I tried to shift it from Park to Rev. So, I took it all apart again, repositioned the shift collar, put it back together and when I went to do a test shift, something broke and now there's no shift stops at all! I have the little aluminum piece that broke off and fell out onto the floor, but can't figure out where it actually came from.
Does it sound like I broke something in either the shift collar or the column flange? Maybe I should just order new replacement pieces from LMC for both. But my second question is, could I have brokent something in the shift tube, itself? That tube looks fairly simple and it sure does sound like I broke something in either the collar or the flange, but I thought I'd check here, first. See if maybe somebody had gone through something similar.
Anyway, I appreciate the help. I'd like to exhaust the possibilities before I have it towed to a shop...
