Steering Colum wire

heres 2 pictures of the wire. i don't know what it is where it goes or what it does. the fuse that runs the gauges blew and when i pulled the coulm apart the wire was haning there can anyone tell me what it does? thanks jdk

Looks like the Key in warning switch.

since that warning doesn't work anyway, can i cut the wire and get rid of it before i put my coulm shround back on?

Yeah, if you want to. But thats why it doesn't work, its hanging down and not engaged in the slot in the column.
