is it a short bed!! ask him if he'll trade
4) Her dad said it only got 14 mpg. Which could be an indication of a larger engine (390), or just a poorly tuned smaller engine with carbs that need rebuilt. Or maybe that's great mileage for these large old engines. You'll know better than me. What would we expect for mileage with an engine built to make say....400HP. What should a 390 make stock well tuned?
Does the manual transmission use a 3 on the tree or does the shifter come up through the floor?
3) Where is the VIN plate on the engine located so that I can determine if it's a 360, 390, etc. It's pretty grimy and I dont want to search everywhere.
if you want a gas saver don't go with a 70s truck bro![]()
How short/long is a shortbed vs a longbed? It didnt seem short to me. It seemed like a pretty standard length. Big enough to fit some plywood in I'd guess.
okie dokie
those trucks came with the following engines, if i missed one let me know
300 I (inline) 6 cyl
302
351 (all variations i believe)
352 (very rare i have one)
360
390
400
i believe
Ok, first of all, there was a 240 inline 6.
The 351(M) and 400(also M) did not come out until 77.
The 352 was only in production until 67. My 67 had one until with more than 200k miles it was swapped for a hi-po 390.
Everything else is correct.
