Simple Bigger tire trick

Hello there fellas...relatively new to this site, but it looks like I've found my new home. Anyways, this may have been covered before, but I figured I would just throw it out. For those of you who don't have money for a lift, or don't want a lift, or don't wanna hack into fenders, I've got a simple trick so you have a little more room for bigger meats. On my '96 350, I didn't wanna cough up the cash for lift, but wanted bigger tires and no rubbing. I knew there would be no issues in the rear, so the bottle neck was up front, rubbing the bumper. What I ended up doing was simply shimming out the front bumper. I removed the bumper, got 1.5" or 2" (can't remember which, it was a few years ago) cylindrical spacers. Got some longer bolts, and put the bumper back one. It was simple as that. Now the ends of my bumper sit fluch with the wheel well opening and I fit 37x12.5 SSR's, and have had 36x14.5 TSL's on there, and this is sitting at stock height. There is no rubbing on street or mud driving...there was a little rubbing with the 36's at full flex and full lock, but lets get serious...a 350 CC isn't the best trail rig. I hope this helps and wasn't too vague, and can help someone out there save some cash. Have a good one fellas.

trying to picture this....do you mean you unbolted the bumper from its mounts and put spacers in? I am picturing it being pushed out away from the body of the truck like plow trucks have. Is this what you mean? Sorry if its obvious just trying to picture it, thanks.

I do have to say you have some of the best looking trucks around here Ben.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I take pride in having great rigs, but trust me...they do get used.

Good advice Ben thanks!

If you can't find spacers you can also stack washers. I used a few stacked washers on the lower half of my bumper bolts to straighten out my crooked bumper YelloThumbUp
