Well, anything but VIP is an improvement. I won't shop there unless it's a emergency and they're the only place open.

(I like CarQuest and Napa in that part of the world, personally, but I'm drawing a blank on where in town their stores are.)

You're right about that....I was in such a hurry to install this thing and they were the only thing open....we only have one other parts place in town, Motor Supply. The big chains are far away in larger towns.

The stupid it I got from them is a freakin ripoff....argggghhhh!

Just nab the part number and see if you can't cross reference it at the parts store of your choice. O'reilly's has it listed as 8752...which upon further inspection appears to be the manufacturer's PN, so you should be able to go in any store with that number and they'll tell you if they have it or not. For reference sake, for this part and future orders, summit has this listed as TRM-8752, that's the retail PN, which may or may not be the same store to store.

You got me curious...so I did a little searching.

There's a Napa out towards Wilton (past the hospital). I could have sworn there was a CarQuest somewhere around, but I the nearest one I can find is in Skowhegan.

Napa's not too bad a ride if you don't find what you want right there in town.

Wilton is only 10 minutes away....I can scoot out there for sure.....so I'll check with them....thanks! I knew they had a branch in Livermore Falls, about 20 minutes away, but didn't know they had a branch in Wilton.

Don't remember seeing a CarQuest anywhere nearby.

Don't worry. Sometimes the simplest things turn into major projects. Should see what I wound up going through testing the delay boxes for the wipers. Took way longer then it should have. Stuff happens lol

No to mention, we all at one time had no clue, and had to learn it as well. I have made at least my share of mistakes over the years. Learn and move on, no issue. I've been doing it so long, it is natural to me now, but it wasn't always that way.

If you get the chance, you should check out my door switch conundrum. It wasn't that long ago, but I couldn't wrap my head around how it was supposed to function, go in, hook up, etc. It wasn't that long ago, and shoulda been a 15 minute project...it happens.

I understand that....I'm learning. I look forward to diving into maintaining these old rigs as long as it's possible. My wife knows this and has been getting me tools for birthday and Christmas and other holidays. I asked her for a Pressure Washer for Father's Day and I bought some degreaser, so I'm looking forward to cleaning up the engine bay a little.

The mirror finally stayed on and I tried with everything I had to pull it off and couldn't!

Thanks again everyone for your help.....I think the main problem, besides starting off with cheap VIP crap, is that I didn't clean the window good enough, if there's one thing I can take away from this product....also using quality products....the local parts store had the Permatex brand mentioned earlier and that looked like it did the trick. I used paint thinner to clean the window.

Not talking big dollars in this case, but there's typically a reason why some brands are considered premium and others are considered discount, Some times you can get away with discount, but it's been my experience that you never know when those times are.

Sweet......compared to this rear view mirror, should be a cinch....what a cool option. I'm excited to put it on. I'm surprised with the money the PO threw into my dent, they didn't just go with that....of course, they put 6k miles on it in 8 years and only drove it to shows, so I guess they didn't need it... He told me that in 8 years, it touched rain only one time! They were at a car show and it rained a little. Other than that, this build was always stored in a heated garage.....that is until I got it...I still garage it, but it's not heated and I also drove it cross country home! I can see tiny little imperfections on it because of my regular use in the summer....it's ok, it's just that when I got it, it was literally PERFECT.....every inch of it! Now, it's just a little normal wear and tear from driving it, which I LOVE TO DO BY THE WAY!!!

Haha!!! Me too!!! Weren't vehicles built to be driven? This is exactly how the PO came to the conclusion of selling my dent. As much as they loved it and had all that hard work into it, they couldn't stand it just sitting there year after year and wanted it to be used!

I've been to some car shows where some of the builds have no miles on them at all.......headers are chrome (if turned on too long, will turn blue and purple and such), everything chrome.....trailered to shows and such. Kind like owning a priceless painting....it's just there.

Ken I'm glad it worked for you finally. I wouldn't have used paint thinner because it can leave a residue. Acetone won't, it's used for all types of resin and epoxy prep cleaning. I keep it here by the gallon along with lacquer thinner , the next best thing to nothing for cleaning .

I just haven't taken the time. I have 30 miles on my dent this year so far.

And I took my BII to get it inspected.
