ok, so my friend has been arguing with me for a wile..

what i want to know, this era of trucks.. was the 460 ever offered in a f250.. i was pretty sure it was only offered on a f350 and up.. and only trucks with solid front axels...

also...going the other way

weren't the 300-6's offered in 250s and possibly 350s in the 80s?

EDIT: from wikipedia
Also during the late sixties and early seventies, the 300 was used in larger vehicles such as dump trucks, many weighing into the 15,000–20,000 pound (7,000–9,000 kg) range. These 300s were equipped with a higher flow HD (Heavy Duty) exhaust manifold since the engines were going to be constantly working in the 3000–4000 rpm range. These rare, yet effective, manifolds had higher flow than the electronic fuel injection 4.9 (300) manifolds and some headers.

no proof of 250s/350s in the 80s, but it was in dump trucks before then

not only the 460 but powerstroke diesels were offered in the F250 as well which weigh more than the 460. The leafsprung Dana 50 TTB's were pretty beefey and could handle the weight

not really. Most of the 250's I see around on craigslist ARE the 460. It's a pretty common pickup around here. It's probably the cheapest way to get your hands on a running 460, despite the use intended.
