Did you replace the ignition box on the driver fender?

I'm thinking the same thing Buck....that Ford diagnostic procedure indicates that as well.

It's hard to say how the ignition module is faulty, but can't you get some spark at the coil, but if the spark isn't amplified enough from the module than it's not enough to get spark down through the pickup to the plugs. I'm still learning all the ignition stuff too. I just know that when I dragged my 75 out of the trees, it seemed like I was getting something at the coil and not the distributor so I messed around with the distributor and coil thinking that was the problem, but it boiled down to the ignition module. Replaced it and it fired right up.

Ignition module is a PCB with semiconductors....it can be affected by things like temperature (usually heat), vibration, broken traces on the board, failing devices etc....not really an easy way to dx other than by eliminating other issues.
There are ways with a scope and ways to heat/cool the module, but it's really not worth it.

I always had a spare behind the seat in my trucks. They go bad from time to time.
A lightning strike to the hood of the truck will fry one instantly and bring you to a stop. That was a pucker moment.:)

So... Im retarded haha when I changed the waterpump apparently I ripped the ground off the coil. First thing we checked was the carb because we thought it wasn't getting fuel. I found a green wire that was snapped off fresh and saw a connector snapped off on the choke. So, we plugged it back in. Then we noticed the ground was missing on the coil.. We grounded it to the firewall, couldn't figure out my we couldn't find the old wire. So after replacing everything possible and still no spark I looked at the Haynes and noticed it said a green wire went to the coil ground. Needless to say it runs now after a couple hundred in new parts :)

I can't tell you how many times I would be searching for a solution and all the threads would have suggestions but no one comes back with what the cure was. Mainly on boat forums.

Anybody have any ideas as far as ripping the bed off and making it a flatbed? Im thinking about making it a dune truck/toy now, and the box is pretty rotted out, how hard is it to shorten the frame and make it a 250 shortbox? I'd rather do that than a flatbed...

Just a friendly tip: If you want to change subjects and ask about something different, start a new thread - you'll get more attention that way. Plus, anyone searching for info on these topics in the future will be able to find it easier.
