Problems with a 79' 250

I found one for $80 on bronco graveyard, is that a decent price for one? And ballpark what would an ignition box cost? I might as well do them both since i replaced everything else haha

$20-$30 should get you a duraspark box at any parts store. Iirc you'll need to know the color of the grommet where the wires go into the box (blue, green, etc. )

Go buy yourself a new pick up coil at the parts store. Follow these instructions, http://www.fordtruckfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30020. Page 23-02-5. You don`t need a new distributor, you changed the water pump, you can change the pick up coil. You also don`t need an ignition box. You have spark at the coil. If you want one for a spare, than by all means, but don`t just go parts swapping. Read the links. They have the hook up.

Thanks guys! Il pick one up on my way home from work tonight, another question though, can I get the other end of the plug for the pickup coil? I cut the old one out an spliced all the wires because its was all corroded and the plastic was crumbling, or should I just resplice the new one in?

Ok, got the distributor in and it still doesn't have spark to the plugs, I literally have changed everything on it except for the ignition box, could that be what it is? I have power to the coil so I figured the ign box is good still

Is there a braided cable from the engine block to the firewall attached ?

at the back of the engine to the firewall.
The engine block needs to be grounded for ignition to work

Doesn't the main negative cable go directly to the block for the starter return?

So, the way it sits right now you have spark to the coil but no spark to the plugs right?
