power steering pump

just inherited an 1989 f150 with a 5.8l; and I need to get it past inspection. but the problem I have is no power steering. the hoses are good, the box ain't leeking; and I'm about to start replacing parts... what do I start with? if it helps it DOES have fluid! =D

The steering system on these older truck really isn't very complex... So if you're not getting any help from the PS pump then I'm guessing the pump is bad.

Before replacing the pump you could remove the lines and try blowing through them to see if there's blockage... But my guess is that it's just a bad pump.

Get a saginaw off same year Ford van . They last way long than old ford issue ones
