I can't see how that little bit would make any kind of difference. There will be a bit of turbulence at the tip of the "tongue" because it is on the floor, and it is only on the floor, so then there is the question of the rest of the flow... gimmick.

When porting heads you dont just go hogging out the head. The first rule is dont touch the port floor. Id say the idea is sound.
