Pics at the lake front

Just finished up with painting the front bumper from crome to black and the plastics grey to charcoal. Thought I would take a few pics at the lake with some grain elevators and the sleeping giant in the back ground. The Sleeping Giant is my home town land mark. If you can find the Giant you can find where I hail from.

Looks good.

How did you go about painting the chrome bumper?

The bumper was pretty rusty under the crome. More so than I though. I used a grinder to smooth out the rust and then sprayed the bumper with a sandable primer, and shot it with rust killer black gloss paint. The bumper is pretty rusty on the inside and I figure it will be a couple of years before hole start coming through. I'm on the lookout for a new one now. But I had the paint kicking around in the garage so I thought I would see what it looks like black.

I did the same thing with my company truck's chrome bumper, but didn't put gloss. The rust came through a whole lot faster than anticipated from the inside. I ground it down and shot black primer and the bumper literally looked like a brand new black plastic bumper. As soon as the rust came, I sanded, and shot a little more primer and walla....brand new again. Have to keep doing this until I replace the bumper, if I ever do.

Theres some paint called cold galvanizing thats loaded with zinc. 1 quart ways about 20 lbs.
Its good for places like the back of a bumper.

Nice pics, is the hood stock with the scoops ?
