When at Englishtown Swap Meet, I got an MSD ignition for my stang. It came with the MSD 5 box and a MSD TFI Blaster coil. Well i looked up the MSD 5 on their web site and it said street/off road, not for super performance, stang aint too performance yet so I put in in my stang. I already had the blaster coil in the stang so I decided that id put the coil into the truck as the stock one doesnt look so good. Well after puttin ign into stang I liked the way it ran so I ordered one for the truck. Well I did the coil last night and it was a PIA, the old mount was all rotted and a few screws broke so I used the stang coil mount and the old egr setup bracket to hold the coil in. Here are pics, also put bigger tires on, na not as big as the 36's but bigger then the 265/75/16's that I had on. New size 285/75/16. Here are the pics.

Haha that's quite the setup you've got for that coil. GHETTO!!

What kinda difference did you see with the stang after installing the 5 box?

Nice, I've got one of those. Just make you open up the gaps on the plugs (.60) for best results. What kind of plugs are you running? I love my NGK v-powers personally.

I forget what plugs are in the truck, i think the plat 4's are in the stang, I got to change them as I did them like 4 years ago, but have only put 30K on the stang since I got it and that was 6 years ago. That coil mount dont look that bad, its just up on the upper intake bolts vs the lower intake bolts, yea so I used a self tapper, truck dont know the diff.

Stang idles better, and I think it might pull a bit harder. But who really knows.

I noticed a better idle and little for pull when I put a MSD 6 and coil and cap with plugs gapped to .55, think I even got better MPG , but more likely evened it cuz I was born with a lead foot.

You guys with the box should be able to open them up to .60 no problem, and might even see more benefit from it. I'm waiting 'til I get the box to go to .60. But I only have cap/rotor/wires/coil and I'm running .55. Food for thought..

The 6Al have a adjustable rev limiter in them, good luck on getting it.

yep they just use chips.. get a chip that limites at 5000 or 4800 wherever you want.. those chips are cheap..

I picked up the MSD today. Its a MSD 6A not the AL. Looks kinda beat but kid said it ran good. I got to trust him caus I got the trans from him and it works. Does anyone have pics of there they put the box? Ill prob find my own spot, but rather make it easy on myself. Another delema. I got the MSD 5 in my stang, and now have the MSD 6A. Im debating on weather to take the 5 out of the stang and put that in the truck or just put the 6 in the truck to make it easy. What do you think? Here are some pics to think it over on.
Here is the MSD 6A

Ok MSD is in. After work I went at it. I was trying to find a place to put it and couldnt really, so then I was like ok time to remove the rest of the emissions junk so I could put the box there. So I took the air filter thing out for the air pump, then removed the big vac storage tank, and took the bracket out for the air pump air filter. Then I took out all the vac lines seperated all the lines so I could get the MAP,fuel press, and a lead for the EGR valve. I used the orig MAP and fuel press hoses and most of the orig EGR lines. So I ran it to make sure it ran right and didnt throw any codes. Its all good, so then onto the box. I cleaned up where all the junk was and placed the box where I wanted it. Made some holes and put some weather stripping under it to hold it off the inner fender and keep it up a little. Then onto the wiring. Looked it up on MSD and then did it. Started it up, ran good, then wrapped all the wires up nice and clean like. Went for a test drive and beat it a bit. Feels better. I didnt regap caus im tired and dont feel like taking them out at 10pm. Here is some pics.

Skan take it all out, fig out what to do when inspection time comes. Thats what I do. Yea I know I got to clean it up, my truck works so it does get dirty.

I was going to put it where the jack was but then was like, I have no cat, no air pump(at least no lines going to it) so hey im taking everything out. Ill do some more beatin on it tomorrow.

The work required outweighs the benefits that it offers. Plus with the old brittle vac lines I'd more than likely damage one when removing it and create vac leaks. It's fine, I'm not that concerned about it.
