I don't know if I would really need such a nice shock. I was thinking of Monroes, it is an old truck. Maybe if I would find some on E-Bay. Been looking at the wreckers too.

It's not a whole lot more for new ones..esp if you are comparing the price of a good Monroe. Buying a shock (or shocks) at a wreckers would be hit or miss in my opinion.
I have modified Bilsteins on my quad and the factory Rancho's on my 350, it's a cheap upgrade for such a smooth ride.

Base new ones can be had for less than $20 each, better than struggling with old ones and hoping they don't leak.

I don't know what you have for parts stores out there, but if you have to resort to ebay, let me know, I'll pick up 4 and ship them to you... However, check out Rock Auto, I doubt I can go buy 4 from the Zone or anywhere else and ship them to you for less than they will. (I would have used my discount, but I don't get one any more, I promoted myself to customer recently)

Just checked, RA can go $10 each for Monroes, not worth the effort at all to try used.

Thanks Fellro, I have decided to not get used. I'm I reading that right, $10 for each new shock!! How can it be so low??? My truck is a 1983 F250 2 wheel drive with stock suspension. Could you PM me with total including shipping, I'll be all over that if the shipping doesn't kill me.

Looks good Roy!

Do you have any plans to add the chrome trim around the door panels? If you want them, they're simple to install. You just have to drill the small holes into the door panels and then insert the tabs through and bend them down.

Great Tip Shaun . I will remember that.

Thanks Shaun :wavey: if I was to repaint the truck, I would put all the trim on, I really like the look, but I think it would look odd on the orange and white bottom paint it has.

No, not the outside trim. I'm talking about on the interior door panels. It's the chrome ring that goes around the door panel. Look at the pic below and you'll see it.

Opps, helps if I can read, lol. Those look great Shaun, must be the total package for the wood grain upgrade. The truck I just got my dash from didn't have the matching door panels. I read a while back in one of your threads that that was the Ranger Edition, is that correct.

Now that really helps to add to the interior.

The woodgrain door panel trim pieces only came on 1980-1981 Ranger Lariat and Bronco XLT trucks, and 1982-1984 XLT Lariat and Bronco XLT trucks.

As for the chrome trim pieces, those should be on every 1980-1986 truck except Custom and base trim level trucks. Ranger, Ranger XLT, Ranger Lariat, XL, XLT, and XLT Lariat should all have them.

As for that black trim piece between the armrest and the top of my door panel, that is a 1980 only feature on Ranger Lariats. Explorer Package D trucks had them as well, except they were cloth instead of vinyl like mine are.
