Nice. How are you cleaning the frame? Wire brush on a sander/grinder? or?

Those twisted wire cups work pretty well on a small grinder. They even have tiny ones that work in a drill (for tight spots).

Just wear long sleeves and a face shield. They sling wires out at a high rate of speed.

Looks like the "Body Schutz" that 3M makes. No clue how that is pronounced.

It is a rubberized undercoating (the 3M stuff).

the gun for it is:

I have never tried any of it...although there is a quart that has been sitting in my storage area since about 95. My X bought it for her monte. LOL I would almost bet it is a solid rock by now.

Well I ask because I know that once you have surface rust its almost impossible to COMPLETELY get rid of it. There can still be slight traces and those slight traces can manifest and make the paint bubble. That's why I want to use a paint that has rust inhibitors like Por-15 or Eastwoods.

I have no experience with the undercoating stuff.

Media blasting and sealing everything with epoxy primer and top coating with SS or B/C is a better way, but....not many people are going to go that route on a driver. Takes too much time to take it all apart. Some show vehicles are even powder coated. :suspicious:

Mine will never be done right. The eastwoods stuff is working ok for now, but it will eventually rust again. Nothing stops rust permanently

Either way...it is better than what it was without being cleaned up and coated. Jurgen's is too. I would imagine the salt air down there is rough on any steel after a while.

Budget, time, and physical ability all come into play as well. At least for most of us.

I've been doing an undercarriage restoration of my new car, sandblasting or wire wheeling everything and then coating it in POR15... no worries after that.

i went to ask my big brother.. he said you can paint over surface rust with it... he painted his blazer frame about 3 years ago and it still looks good :)

Its funny I dont usually like this year trucks, as I got the same with the bronk, but that does look good slammed. Id go polished with the wheels. When you paint the truck, id see what grill looks good. A chrome one might even look good. Id def get a different offset wheel. You want the back out the same or more then the front. I dont like how his stick out and the back are flush with the fender.

I don't like how the fronts stick out, period. IMO, it's more or less never acceptable to have non-driven tires stick out past the fenders. (There are undoubtedly exceptions, but I can't think of any...)

That's because they don't know about or know how to measure the offset of a wheel.

Yeah having the front tires sticking out past the fenders makes it look like you couldn't afford to buy wheels of the correct offset and got a good deal on a cheap set with the wrong offset.

Youve got a long way from that there sonny. Alot of hard work ahead of you, like me and my bronk lol. It will get there, might take forever (for me) but it will get there.
