I have a 17" Toshiba that fits. It's kinda angled, but you can close the cover and fit other stuff in there too.

Never cut that out on my '75 F150 or my '91 Bronco with a ZF and Bench seat.

This weekend had a child seat and a grandbrat in the middle during an all day
trip with many stops etc.

Back in the old days there were many times we had four to six in the '75.

Still have the tan center box out of the Bronco, is it worth shipping or toss it?
