New and have a question

What's up guys I'm new to the forum and have a question I'm trying to help my dad out with his truck. Ok he has an 87 f150 and put a motor out of an 89 in it and it wont start so iguess my question is what are the dofferences in the wiring between 87 and 89 because he tried swapping wiring off the 89 and now has a couple of extra plugs and it won't fire off the starter switch but will fire when you jump the soenoid? Any help is appreciated TIA guys

Ok first question, what engines are you talking about? 351W, 302, 300I6, 460? what?

secondly where about are these plugs located?

If it is a 351W the harness is probably way different.

it will be... the 87 is a 4bbl carb no efi. but the 89 is EFI. 2 completly different harness'

The motor he put in it is a 302 and thats what the truck origionally had in it before that one croaked and they are under the hood and go to the motor harness. My dad pulled the wiring off of the donor truck and spliced them into the wiring on the 87 because the origional plugs were different to the ones on the motor out of the 89.

He actually had a 351 in it ant the harness plugged right in to the motor and he said it came out of a 91 so idk what the deal is?
