need answer from Primetime

I am ready to hook up the dura spark but nothing on the starter relay is marked. There are 4 terminals (1) The cable from the battery (2) the wire from the switch (3) there is nothing hooked up on this terminal (4) The cable to the starter. Which one is the I terminal that I hook the red wire too. None of them are marked. I left the box hooked up to the coil and Dist. and only had the two wires coming out of the box. If this does not work I will have to go to a point system and rewire every thing

The first big terminal is usually the battery cable from the battery, and is a large cable.
The second post is the large cable to the starter.

The first SMALL post is usually marked "s", and that comes from the key to energize the solenoid to make the starter run.

The second small post is marked "I", and that is for the ignition wire to supply 12 volts to the coil when cranking. This post will not be used with DSII.

I have nearly gone blind from looking at the wiring diagrams and as far as I can tell the red wire is hot all the time and the white wire is hot in "run or start" so it must be ---- the red wire on the battery side of the relay and the white wire on the I terminal. I hope

The 87 Has a Tfi ignition, controlled by the computer. DsII has a square box on the inner fender

The red wire is ignition live. If you hook it to the battery you will not be able to shut off the engine You are correct, one is for start, the other is reduced voltage for regular run. The DS does not use anything hooked directly to the starter relay, it is from the ignition switch. Also, 87 does not use DS II, it uses a TFI module on the distributor, unless you have a carburated version, which would use likely a DS III. Not sure on that, as I am used to the injected motors for that age.

For a true DS II module, there is a 12V start input, then a regular run input that is a reduced voltage.

87 with 351s were Duraspark. Now the factory did not not run the DS wires to the starter relay, but I have converted three points vehicles to Duraspark by hooking one of the wires to the I terminal. They have all been fine. As far as which one to use, the little terminal on your relay that is NOT being used by your red/blue wire will be the I terminal. They are not all marked.
