Need a hood!

Looks like the hood on the truck may not be worth saving. I can get into a replacement from the shop for $300. - Insurance quality.

Any other options without waiting a year for shipping??

I always find good parts like that for cheap. I posted the link for you and you can check the location near you. Where in GA are you?

I'm up north. Looks like the closest one is about half an hour away.

Go to a junk yard...if you're willing to drive, one of the places I pick parts from (galloway's) had a couple gen 8's. One I'm thinking about in particular is a red cc dually. straight body, good 6.9(?) but a trashed tranny. This place typically runs a little expensive...but generally have good parts.

All I care is that the total spent is less than the $300.

If it costs close to or the same, I'm just fine with the first option.

God knows you oughta be able to find something OEM in great shape for under $300. Maybe I missed it, but what did you do that insurance is paying for a new hood?

Insurance isn't paying for it, but the quality is comparable to what would be replaced by insurance.

I decided that if I'm going to paint the truck, I might as well have a nice underlaying surface.

You are seeing the monster this hobby can become. First it's the perfect truck and a driver. Then it's take the bed off...then it's paint...now it's body panels...and who knows when you'll drive it again. Then the exterior will look good, then the interior will need doing. Then you'll decide the rest of the truck needs to perform as good as it looks. Then upgrades for stuff you've already done will come out. Face it, you're gonna be broke for the rest of your life...haha.

Just found the link there... Looks like if I can get out there, I'll pick one up. Maybe I'll run into some other parts too! smilieFordlogo

I have gotten a lot of good parts and interior stuff from them. But don't look for a gas tank, and trans pans. they run a air chisel through them
