If you hot tanked the block, you will want some kind of coating or it will be rusty within a month. Otherwise, looking good. I have actually had decent luck with paint staying in general, around the exhaust of course gets a bit warmed... I understand your position though, as it is tiresome sometimes to get every bit of grease off, even tanked there will be a little. There likely is some on the block from doing the assembly now, but brake cleaner generally will take care of that.

Looks good, Ryan! I would like to try an engine rebuild someday. But, at 2-3K a year mileage, it might be a while.

Alright, Chris. I put a little paint on it for you. I still need to do another coat of black on the oil pan, but this is for you.

Looking good so far Ryan. Now get it in the truck already.

Thanks guys!

I'm working on getting it back in the truck as fast as I can. This weekend I also swapped the huge main wiring harness in the truck. There are a few problems with the harness I purchased.

1. The windshield wiper plug changed from 1994 to 1995. i will need to splice on the old wire connector or buy a new windshield wiper motor (but it can wait).

2. The wires for the right front signal lights were cut, I'll have to splice on some harnesses there as well.

3. The wiring harness I got did not have cruise control! I totally overlooked it at the time, but the wiring isn't present. Again, this isn't crucial to getting the truck running but I want my cruise to work.

Nothing ever goes perfectly, does it?

Did the headers come with a black paint, or did you paint them? Looks very nice. Is this your first rebuild?

Those headers came with a crappy black paint on them. I used them for a few years and the rusted almost immediately. I sanded them down and spray painted it with a super high temperature ceramic header paint. Hopefully this holds up.

That's an oil cooler!

So what do you screw onto the end of it? LOL

Good idea, Doug!

It's still sitting on the engine stand, awaiting installation. I hope to get to it soon. I need to arrange a time to get my cousin over to my place to give me a hand. I meant to get to it BEFORE the baby was born but the massive snow came and killed that idea.
