Nice truck sucks that happened..

Check my gallery for the white and red truck, it so happens that cab corner didn't get damaged by the morons pushing the truck around. Let me know if you want some sheetmetal from there. Very much a sweet truck you have there..

Sorry to hear of the accident. I have a '77 that looks a lot like yours. I'd be really pissed if that happened to mine. I know you must be too.

Your profile doesn't say where you are. I'm in East Texas. (North of Houston).
I've got a '77 SC that I've pretty much parted out. The Cab is intact, and straight. It has rust issues in the wiper valley from sitting under a pine tree for about 10 years. But the part you need is solid, and straight. The cab is yours if you want it for the cost of your travel.

Good Luck,
Rich

I really appreciate the offers guys. Unfortunately, I'm in the Pacific NW, which pretty much kills the deal. Hopefully I can find something local.

I can hack it out and ship if you like. Wouldn't be too surprised if FEfan would too.

still dealing with the insurance company on this. Apparently my truck is only worth $1,500 bucks to them. But my appraisal says otherwise.....:flipoff:

That sucks...when I had my appraisal done I specifically got coverage to that amount...those damn companies will do anything they can not to pay...contrary to the warm, fuzzy commercials most of them put out.

I'm fighting with the other drivers insurance and because it's my DD and I use the bed like a truck is supposed to be used. I have to have regular insurance. I can't even get an agreed value for it from my carrier.

I was worried about that when I saw the damage, hope things work out for you.

Might be worthwhile to get fresh sheet metal. Should be some repro stuff out there I would think.

Where he got hit, he's gonna need a donor truck...I dunno of a place reproducing panels for that area. If not, I can only imagine what a shop would do to fix it...pull as much as possible and load up on the bondo.

I've found a shop that does a lot of classic European cars and they have agreed to take on the work and repair the damage at the factory seams. No bondo here!

I am defiantly looking for a donor truck. I've worked enough with repo sheetmetal that I know I don't want it. If I can find a supercab with a good cab and bed for the right price, I will buy it and part it. If I can't, I may be on my way to Arizona, another member offered me a free cab! Then I will just buy a truck with a good bed and swap them then resell the truck.

So are you saying they'll custom fab replacement sheet metal...if so, how in the hell did you ever get an insurance company to agree to that kind of expense. If they're just going to pull it...how in the hell are they gonna fix that crinkled area without bondo?

There aren't going to custom fab it, but remove it from a good cab and use it to fix mine. The insurance company has no choice. as long as it doesn't cost 8000 to fix I am good to go! I clearly laid out the value of the truck and also gave them a receipt totaling about $5800 for the rebuilt engine. I think the receipt is what did it. I think they realized I was invested in the truck and that I wouldn't just rollover and not get it repaired. From my chat's with my lawyer the insurance company assumes I have median income for a 26 year old = not enough money to fight them. By showing them that I have disposable income invested in the truck and making it known I was not going away they figured it would be cheaper to fix it than going to court....where I would win, and collect the full value of the truck and loss of use, etc....

Gotcha...didn't think you had access to a good cab yet. And I thought you said the insurance company said your truck was worth $1500...so they do have a choice to cut you a check for the totaled amount...which I figured would flirt with if not be considerably less than what it would cost to fix that damage. But it's great to hear that the stars are aligning for ya and she'll get fixed up.

Man I would be pissed if some one hit my truck and I had to go through that.
Good Luck

Several blocks from my house a guy has a gran torino, about a 72. He's been parking it on the side of his house ( corner lot ) for 20 years that I know. Last week someone nailed the front.

When we moved here we were told that the snow plows ill hit ya if your parked on the road. We always put the car and trucks in the driveway to be sure. They drive through the nieghborhood at 35 miles an hour when they plow.

according to the research I have done. I am no way required to accept or agree with their value of the truck. It's only totalled if I let them total it. In fact there is a Law suit brewing concerning The insurance companies and the "independent appraisers" they use concerning market manipulation. The fact that I have the appraisal for $8000 and about 5 or 6 comp. trucks in the area for sale over $7000 really helped. Really what it comes down to is it's worth it for them to deny and low ball claims. Let's say you have 100 claims and you deny them all. 95 claims you will never hear from again. Of the five remaining 4 of them will end up settling before they go to court. That one person that ends up suing and going to court and winning may cost them 1 million or whatever. But it is chump change compared to the money they saved by denying those other claims
