Did my usual search here for info on the MSD 6A box. I would like to know if it will work with my 300 and EFI set up (all factory) and how do y'all like it.
Cliff...I can't really help you with your questions...but IIRC, MSD has been having some serious quality issues lately in having dead parts right out of the box.
Yeah...MSD has always had a quality name and product...that's why I was giving you a heads up, because there seems to be an issue over the last couple of months. I noticed it especially over on FSB, when guys are doing the 6 litre tune up and they trace the issue back to MSD parts.
I kind of wonder if they are using the 6A box that is for street use or the off road. I don't see how a street version would hold up to 4 wheeling^^^Dunno...haven't paid that close of attention to it, seeing as it's not an issue I'd encounter.

They might not all be four wheeling though, Ryan's MSD coil blew after 30K miles and his truck is a 2WD.
I wasn't going to use MSD Coil. I had planned on buying a Accel Coil. Does my truck even have a coil? It's all computer controlled.
Thats what im doing, getting rid of it all i have the msd 6al box and it works good for me, it came with detailed installation and its straight forward, ive had it for almost a year now, but yea next to go is the computer puttin a carb on her
I think it is time to get rid of all this computer crap.
Yes your 300 has a coil...I believe the MSD 6A is the digital box that all the Gen 1 Lightning guys swoon over. Ben wasn't referring to the MSD boxes (I don't think) but rather the coils. Anyways, I seem to remember the 6A getting pawed at by the L guys. So, you should be golden.
For guys like me, who like the simplistic approach to tinkering and modifying, that's great. But considering that's not what the majority of the general public wants, and the car companies aren't making money if your car isn't in their shop, and the fact that emissions are getting tougher and tougher...there's no chance any of the 'computer crap' is going anywhere. With the exception of the cost of the repair bills, it appears the general public is fine with this. And I will say, that the technology is pretty cool, and would be even cooler if I could understand it. But that begs the question, 30-40 years from now, will guys be wrenching and modifying today's rigs, or will the 70-80 year old rigs still be preferred? I guess only time will tell.
