When theres a bad bearing, turning away from the bad bearing shifts all of the weight onto the bearing causing the noise. Turn toward it, the noise goes away. Only way it doesn't work, if both rear bearings were bad.

i was thinking for a lil while it might have been a wheel bearing. but i couldnt figure out which one it wouldve been, well now i know how to figure that out...

Thats exactly what I was picturing in my head. Also just replaced all the wheel bearings on the 86 so that helped quite a bit.
