idk either... just woke up.. dont see any of it... but i do know some of it was not needed..

And Lester, dude, i respect you to the fullest, you have such a wide range of knowledge that i dont ever expect to reach. But come on... your assuming way to much.. to think im going to go into a dealership acting like i know everything is a pure sign of not knowing me, i ask questions everytime im not sure on something... So please dont assume anything. and as far as all the remarks towards me being a "long long row to hoe with you, not to mention your instructor is going to have a field day with you" i understand this, and this is why im going to school, to learn alot of the stuff i've never been able to learn.

My dad aint big into vehicles, was never able to teach me much, most everything i know is through asking pretty much... i'm freaking trying to learn, not get lectured everytime i turn a corner..

It was not an assumption, it was a fact. Dealerships are cut throat, Flat Rate can be very challenging, not to mention you can and will lose money learning. Every tech there will try you to see what your made of. I am trying to do you the biggest favor, one I never got. My Father could not change his own oil.

I also want you to understand that alot of instructors could care less if you fail or not, they are just there to teach the subject matter. One of the hardest schools I have ever been through was this way. First thing out of the instructors mouth was if 60% of you pass the class it will be a good class. Waukesha does not want to dumb down the material and they could care less who fails, their standpoint is they only want the best techs working on their equipment. They don't hand out certifications. I studied for at least 3 hours per night of the 5 day school. From a company standpoint, if I failed the class, they would be reluctant to send me to the next class. This happens on a regular basis. One last piece of advice, instead of making a thread for a question, try using the PM feature on this site. Asking questions is part of learning. Lord knows that I have sent tons of PM's to Vince and other techs here as well as on other boards.

Lester, your points are all valid, except your last one.
If people only PM there questions, then nobody else is going to learn from the threads and the replies.

Just my .2cents

Don, I understand where your coming from, however I have seen so many 6.0 threads go down in flames, that is usually pissed off the techs and they would be reluctant to argue with people who don't have a clue as to what their talking about. Keep in mind, these issues were usually head scratchers, usually like the pop quizes that Vince posts in the 6.0 and 6.4 forum.

On edit, maybe you two need to familarize yourselfves with the PM function.

If you don't believe me, just ask Vince or Kuzman. I have personally seen both of them literally attacked in threads trying to help people. Not here mind you, the outcome was they all but quit posting and helping people.

Don't forget about the certified Tech forum that only the techs can answer in (and the stray mod that isn't paying attention when he posts a reply! LOL)

Im talking only inside the confining walls of FTF.
I have never seen any of our techs attacked, they have been very helpful, sometimes questioned ( i admit to this ) but consistently accurate and they dont charge us a dime!
In other sites heck yea ill throw out a pm. But FTF is blessed in not being so large, we can have civil discussions sometimes heated but usually kept tame enough to appease our laid back mods.
I will post just about any question i have if im on ftf, any other sites i dont do much posting...

Thats one of the hazards of our occupation. Unfortunately, dealer techs aren't thought of very kindly. Its getting to be a state of mind at times. You mostly end up giving someone just enough advice just to get them started in the right direction. Some folks just dont want another person offering advice, I guess its an admission of inadequacy in their minds. Because its so ingrained in us, we'll throw a tantrum, but always come back for more.

Trust me, we enjoy someone questioning us. It kind of keeps us on our toes. Lester is one that I've always wanted to make sure my information was correct. He'll always "keep you honest".
