Dunc is right though, if you keep it around 55 the low gears will suit you fine. I drive no less than 75 most of the time and like the higher gears...

Just tryin to figure out what that is :)

Like i said i thinkg 3.54's or 3.73's, im leaning more toward 3.73's now. I had an 83 with a I6 and 4.11's and that thing was horrid at any speed over 45.

One more question....if i swap rear ends will it jack with my speedo?

Yes it will, you'll have to swap speedo gears or live with the differance.

Another thing to note, the C6 was a good torque/power robber in stock form..

Speedo gears are easy to change.

I've got a 355 gear in my 04 E350 and it pulls my dump trailer up to 10k#'s just fine. But this is flat land around here, and I don't get on the interstate when loaded.

My grandpa used to pull around a 3 horse goosneck horsetrailer with his 94 F250 with 3.55s and a 300 all over this country....but i dont drive like him either :) It did ok you just had trouble merging.

Ive changed speedo gears before....any idea what tooth id have to go to with a 3.73 gear?

There is a little over a 20% difference....so transpose that over to what your tooth count is now.

If youré looking for a good compromise and you don't mind stirring cogs why dont you go with the 3.73 and swap in a ZF5

Yes it does but isn't difficult to retrofit.

I actually prefer the NV4500, every ZF I've driven gets sloppy after a short time seems lesser with the NV

Workin..Going from the 3.07 to the 3.73 is a considerable jump..your going to notice the change for the better and it will affect the speedometer..swap out the rear ends, speedo gear & leave the rest be imo.

Yeah thats probely what im going to do. I was just wondering how hard it would be to put the T18 in it just in case...

I just dont know if ill ever get over my fear of automatics and loads over 3500 lbs :)

I've always wanted a 2 speed rear end for my E350. That would solve some problems I've had.
Once I went down in a sand pit for 2 1/2 tons of sand and had to get a 1/4 mile running start to get up the ramp and out of the pit.

Sorry... but you should, a well built C-6 with a trans-cooler can handle loads easily over 10,000 lbs and a stroked 460 with around 650 lbs. of torque. My C-6 has now lasted for over 22 years and 230,000 miles of work and play.
