How to install grill badge

I decided to put a new grill xlt badge on my son's truck while he's deployed. I have the grill out but the new badge has smooth pins on the back where the poem has lite threads. The little "nuts" don't start on the pins and there aren't spares.

So teach me how to do it right. PLEASE?

Are the pins plastic?

Pins are metal, the nuts are thin, pressed, sheet metal.

If it is what I am thinking, they are a very thin nut and they just press on...does the "nut" look like it is flared out?

Just turn them on like a nut . They cut their own thread.
Use a small ratchet.
Don't make it too tight, just snug
