Well, today I ordered a gasket set, main and rod bearings, and a new timing chain for my 302 from summit...

So, when I go back to school, i can get the new crank in and start putting it back together.

Then In the spring, I will put the Comp 35-349-8 and FRPP headers for the GT40P heads on it.

I cant wait to get it done!
awesome. lucky. im gonna have to wait for my motor build. gotta gather parts first.

dont forget valve springs/ locks /retainers ..
Valve seals (for double springs) get the trickflow vitons

and you will need to do some machining on the heads for the double springs to fit.. let a machine shop do it

they dont list anything on summit for this cam but i bet it needs stronger valve seals... Call Comp cams and ask.. thats what i did it was worth it.. the last thing u want is valve float

ohh i forgot they have the set for the Fcam right?? if so you dont need to change them for the Comp Cam.. but ask around to be sure

No need for bigger valve springs, that cam is running just fine in my 5.0 with the stock springs.

maybe i confused u with someone else

i remember a while ago someone build a motor with a big cam and couldn't go past 4000 rpm becuase of valve float.. i guess its not you sorry

Definitely not my truck, here's a still shot from that 0-60 run I did on it's way to a 5000rpm shift...

Aren't the valve springs different from the flat tappet 302 to the roller cam 302?????[confused] I have an extra set of E7 heads on the shelf ready to go (bowl blend, gasket match) with the Trick Flow valvespring kit in them....

Ford appears to have installed the same springs on all these motors regardless of cam.. according to the documantation I have, so if there is a difference it's very small.

It would work better than the F cam you have. Give you a little more bottom end but might nor giveyou thetopend like the F cam. Just advance it up 4 degrees and let it eat.....

The HO cam is a good choice, add 1.7 roller rockers and you'll have 90% of what that Comp cam I suggested was going to deliver.

Okay, thats what I will do!

he told me he will just give me the cam...so I will add some 1.7 RR's!!!

How much HP do you think I'll have with the GT40P's, the HO cam, and 1.7 RR's?

about 230-250 at the wheels maybe ? in that range (you will be more than happy )

btw thats an good combo also it was my first choice but i didnt find an HO cam
