How much would you spend to fix your 9th gen?

I paid 3 thousand for mine and I would spend whatever it takes to keep it running, safe and reliable. This is because I want this truck and nothing else and I have looked at many, many trucks.smiliegitrdone

On a vehicle I liked, I'd spend whatever it took to make it reliable, up to the cost of replacing it with something I liked better.

Oh...I forgot the other half of this- a vehicle I didn't like. (So probably not a gen-9...)

I traded in my Escort rather than spend two hours putting in a $50 part.

Serious. My boss even offered to let me use his garage so I wouldn't have to do it in the cold.

A vehicle I disliked or distrusted (or both, since they'd likely go together), I'd spend the bare minimum to keep it getting me where I was going until such time as I could afford to replace it with what I wanted....or something better, if it happened that the cost of "something better" was lower than the cost of getting it running again.

i would never spend that much on that truck. you would never be able to get that money back out of it. also, I would NEVER take a truck more than 5 years old to a dealer....i'd rather flush my money down the toilet.

Other than the suspension parts relate to Oil pump how? I know they have to check out.

When I had semi trucks a dealer I dealt with Tried to add stuff to My just out of warranty 2 year old truck like that . The 2nd call cost them a $86000 LT 9000 I was thinking of buying.Plus 5 or 6 other rides. It was in for EFi problems not Shocks .

But its his truck if he had funds and was fine with it go for it . He didn't have to do it at all. I have replaced about everything on that list myself . So I'll say I would.

As for my truck . I'm not paying $400 a month for 5 + years for a newer truck I hate . Guys at work want to know why I have not got new truck . My Company is tied in with a Ford dealer and I get discounts .

With the dear damage and all repairs to date I have $6500 plus truck cost $1400 bad motor ($165 a month x 48) That includes tires ,brakes, body work ,dear damage ,accident damage etc. Over 4 years since I built it . Even at 2000 a year I cant get a truck to replace it in as good condition.

I could care less about resale as If I like a truck I keep it till falls apart. My next ride will be a wrecked F250-350 .

ive noticed on my 96 F250HD that the u-jionts and ball joints are starting to get bad and the 460 is starting to leak a lil oil,the exuast maifolds leak some too. and i realy dont care what it cost to fix it cuzz its going to get fixed. i already plan to put in a reman trans and engine when they go to. i dont cheap out either when i fix stuff on this truck, it gets treated to royal purple oil every 3000 miles and always gets either mid grade or hi test gas. the way i look at it, its still cheaper then buyin a new piece of plastic. now my ol 92 F150 is a difernt story she's a well worked old farm truck and i just do the min to keep it alive and if somthin bad happens to it ill remove the snow plow and stick the truck out back in the junk row for parts

Royal Purple every 3k?? dammm thats pricey.. how long does it take you to put 3k on it though?

To me, the cost of repairs/blue book value thing is not always a black/white thing. I just ordered a new gas F-350 Dually and that was $39.842.71 with all rebates and such. In 6 or 7 yrs from now if it needs $9500 of repairs I will likely do it because I would need $30,342.71 or more to replace it.
However, a few yrs back I "rebuilt" my 82 F-150 with a fresh 393W, reman AOD, new lines, ball joints, brakes, springs, shocks, radiator and everything else, even a Texas cab and box and fresh paint. Spent about $9300 doing this, it was cheaper than a new truck and more to my needs. About 7 months later I t-bone a toyota, bend the the frame and the only thing that wasn't bent was the box, insurance people show up, we go round about 35 times and the most they would give was $2100 because all that work I did was "repairs" to them so all I had was a 1982 in 1997 and that's what it's worth.
If you like the truck and you wouldn't even think of replacing it only YOU (the owner) can say how much money is too much to spend!

I do full syn every year, can be from 1-3K of drivin, do my trans every year, diffs and tcase every 2 years. I dont like probs, keep my stuff nice. Who knows what amount of money i have put in my truck. Ill prob never get rid of it. As long as the frame is good, everything can be fixed, plus gen 9 is the most awesome style. That guy would have been better going to a indepdent shop, but is the truck at least nice? Or its really rotted out?
