How much is it worth?

$50k would make it nice. But you're still talking thousands of dollars to make it drivable...if you do ALL the work yourself.

Yep. I was gettig a little extreme there, but done right that super-frightening number is closer to the truth than anyone would ever believe.

Ever notice how few project folks actually have totalled up what they're into the project for? There a reason for that.

Hey man, take it from a fellow Floridian,it's only good for parts. When I was 15 I got my 1980 F100 for 400 bucks. There's only about 5 places that have rust on the truck.I estimate i'll have about 3-4K into her,and she'll be almost brand new. That Supercab would take ALOT more than that to fix up.Look in my gallery at my truck, you can find alot better deals than that supercab.

Ernie we put over 15 thousand into that 76 and it still wasnt reliable. We didnt even start on body work either. All that money was put into it just to keep it runnin and road worthy.

I believe it- I've seen similiar stories so often it's unreal. Usually what happens is at some point, one final piece goes gunneysack and you throw up your hands and walk away.

Thats exactly what we did and dumped it for 800 bucks into a 16 year olds lap. The 72 has been 500% better and cheaper to fix than the 76 ever was. The most expensive thing on the 72 is the 410 thats goin in there and thats around 2100.

thanks for the tips and avice guys. i went there last night (after we had a giant rain storm) and the truck doesnt look that bad really, just the main part is that roof. like i said, i need a daily driver beater truck that will get me to work and school and i wont be afraid to beat the hell out of. the frame looks bad but its only surface rust, it was actually undercoated at one point, and that spot i got a pic of was the only bad spot in the frame. im going to see if my friend will let his 77 go for 500 bucks, hes asking 800, heres the specs on that truck, and maybe you can give me advice on that one, and ill pick up this one for the interior and some exterior parts for the 77.

1977 Ford F150 Custom, regualr cab, long bed, 2wd, straight six 300, it has transmission issues, maybe linkage?? it does not have a heater core, or the one thats there is shot to hell, i couldnt tell when i looked at it. the body is pretty beat up, but no rust except on the surface. the cab floor was recently redone, looks like **** but its still works. it was daily driven by my friend, last year before he bought a 98 chevy 4x4 2500. i dont have pics of it, but what do you think?

Where are you in SW fl? I know where a 79 f150 2wd 302 auto is for 500 bucks. The motor is knocking but the truck is pretty straight. Its in St Pete if its not sold yet.

I wouldn't buy it but if you do I would say no more than $250

The other truck sounds way better than the rusty one. 300 I6 FTW. Hell, it could just be low on tranny fluid (not that kind sickos...) causing the issues. A heater core is an easy fix, and you can knock most dents out. :)

im not too woried about the dent, like i said, i just need a truck for school and work im not afraid to beat the hell out of everyday, lol. the 77 is nice for me, suites my needs and doesnt leak, and it drives daily, so i might go with that. its a little pricy, 800 is a too much so i think ill offer him 500 cash

First off, welcome to FTF. I'm sure with my schedule I probably missed your introduction thread.

Second, it is your money and if you feel you have the time, money and know how (or access to the know how) to fix it up then I say go for it.

Third, let me introduce you to a few folks:
Polarbear (Ernie)= In the business for more then twice your life. If it has 4 wheels and a motor he has seen it, drove it and sold it. This man KNOWS cars!

Mil1on (Dennis)=Life long Ford man. Probably seen, driven or owned any Ford truck you can mention and if your lookin for an obscure part it is a pretty good bet he has one of them in his garage.

john112deere (Ian)=Life long resident of the northeast. If it rusts, he has probably seen it.

These are guys I have known for quite a while and know who they are. The rest of the guys posting here are, I'm sure, equally as talented I just don't know all their strengths.

If your looking for advice you came to the right place. Take it for what it is worth and make an informed decision, but these guys are not pulling your chain. I can vouch for that.

Given how much rust it has, I'd not even consider that one but instead I'd find another one without the rust. Pay the extra money for one without the cancer, it will be well worth it in the long run. I've done a lot of body work, including rust rust repair work, rust sucks. The problem with rust is that once you've found some there's often more that hasn't reared it's face yet. Fix what you see (and there are nooks and crannies that are hard/impossible to see and that's where trouble can begin), spend a ton of time prepping and painting it, and a few years later a new rust surprise will surface.

For $500 you could get something much better. There are easier rust repair spots than what is on that supercab. I'd at least look for a truck that has solid cab mounts, rockers, roof, around the windows etc. Rust around fenders, cab corners, rear wheels are much easier and cheaper fixes. Your friends truck sounds like a better truck for you than that supercab. I wouldn't touch that truck even if you are looking for a project.
