How hot is your E4OD?

Finally installed my B&M trans cooler and now I wanna see if it's doing it's job. Just as a basis for comparison-- those of you with trans temp gauges: how hot does your E4OD generally run, unloaded?

Please also note the ambient air temperature that said measurement was taken in Thanks.

Ambient temp was 75-80*. Highway driving at 65-70mph, tranny temp was between 180-185*, city driving was aright at 190*, towing was right about 205-210*. The t-stat used was a 180*. These numbers seemed a bit high to me, but that was right before the tranny rebuild, then the truck threw a rod, so I'm just getting back to using the truck after a 6 month hiatus.

And yeah I agree-- those numbers do seem a little high. I'll post what I'm getting after I hear some more responses.

Glad I could help, those were the last numbers I had. They seemed about 20* too high on all counts, but that was on a tranny with 221,000 miles on it.

HUH? not sure what you mean by 'where I probed.' You mean where I put the temp sender?

IIRC...in the pressure port on the driver's side.

Hey Mike can you give me a few more details about that reading? Ambient air temp? Driving style when that reading was taken (highway, city, etc).?

Cool. Looks like we don't have too many takers on giving me temp readings so I'll just spill it

The ride home from Trista's place, mostly freeway driving, about 60-70* ambient temp, gave me a solid reading of about 152* F at max. It got to that temp about halfway through the drive and stayed there all the way home.

Think my cooling mods are working? (B&M cooler, Derale deep pan with cooling tubes, shift kit).

Well if Mike's temp reading is right, looks like my temp range wasn't that bad, and Chris looks like your cooling mods are actually working with a 30* decrease in operating temps. Congrats.

Ok...

My temp was when i was at the dunes 95+ outside temps, 2wd dune climbs at WOT for minutes on end.

On the way to the dunes, 95+ temps on the highway doing 75-80 mph im holding 150 the whole 4 hour trip.. Just letting you know.
