I would venture to guess they were the biggest part of the problem. I have dealt with some of these places, they don't want to accept responsibility on things like that, and can be tough to "prove" the failure sometimes. That is the reason I prefer to deal local on that kind of thing, if I were to go with such an engine. Same with transmissions as well.

Well for 75 bucks I got a 850CCA Energizer (Johnson Controls) battery at Sam's Club.

Seems a little high...I've bought a few 870cca batteries from O'Reilly's over the last year, and they were 89.99 each with a 72 month warranty.

Maybe they are a deep cycle battery?

6 month warranty is the low end of the battery spectrum... They wouldn't have been as high of CCA. Our 65 series with 72 month (6 year) warranty are $85, but they are not 850 cca.
