Dont be embarassed Workin,sometimes these things will drive a man nuts.I think i can speak for most of us when i say we have been there at some point in time.and we learn from it..its all good man,hope it all works out for you. smilieFordlogo

Watch your wording :D...the voltage potential is what turns the starter over, the current drawn is a result of the voltage and resistance :wasntme:

I don't rely on the dash gauges for an absolute answer, they only give an approximation, and not entirely truthful. On a case like that, I will verify that the charge is at least actually getting to the battery.

My gauge with low battery swings right over to the right where 30 would be then slowly moves to the center-right When running at 1200 rpm

Thats about right on my aftermarket volt gauge Doug,Maybe not even that much.Now the cluster's Alt light doe's work as it should.goes out when the engine is started. this past weekend the gauge quit working the needle is way to the left..lol Sorry Roger it is a Sun pro from Autozone and will be replaced with a more quality piece.

My gauge might work because after ichanged the alt it was a little higher then it was before :)
