Best to remove it first rather than assuming

I get that...and I planned on matching them up. I figure if an A/C motor comes out, an A/C motor will definitely go back in...but I just wanted to know what the differences were between an A/C motor and a non A/C blower motor.

Even with the a/c removed, you still are using the a/c setup all the same, that does not change.

Is the voltage regulator separate on my 79 it was until I rewired it and went with a newer style alt w internal regulator.

If you have an internal regulated alternator, I would hope you did away with the one on the fender... From the factory, it was separate.
