I know absolutely bumkiss about fiberglass, but why can't you just repair it with fiberglass?

my fiberglass bed is cracked on the rear drivers side from where the previous owner jackknifed the boat.

have the shop fix it right. dont use bondo. it wont adhere very well.

you can buy a fiberglass kit at the parts stores but thats really if you've practiced at it. its not very easy.

the fiberglass you can get at any auto parts store it's a fabricy material then you use resin hardner to form it and make it hard, i dont know the specifics of it tho

oh.... but yeah my crack is the back part of the rear drivers step( not the fendor) right behind the bumper. im not trying to make it look factory new but enough to form it back in place so i think ill try an auto parts

Bondo wouldn't be good at all. And fiberglass can be a pain to work with. It took me a good while to get it down and I still can't come up with a product I like. I'd let the shop do it and swallow the price.

Duh...he fixed it like that for aerodynamics. To show his new clients what he is capable of...haha. Or maybe he was the one Ann rear ended with the Corsica.

Can you come get my bumper more aerodynamic? Maybe it'll fix my stumbling issue. Gonna burn my truck right next to Ben's Bronco LOL

If it is cracked you will need to apply a fiber glass mat over the cracked place. Let it harden rhen mix resin and ground fiberglass to create a paste and fill in any indentations let harden and shape to desired shape. then just cover in pure resin a gel coat. Then sand and paint.

Fiber glass can be a pain . But you probably do it . If the quote includes paint thats cheap . A fender here is $100+ no body work for paint .

That being said . Find a boat repair guy . I live in bacl woods no water to talk of and we got the boat repair people . I had a bed like yours fixed up was cracked back top step was way less for repair . But I didn''t have to worrie about paint .
