De-rusted and painted the 79. Now on the auction block. I hate to let it go, but I have no room. Bought a new truck and fifth wheel, so stable is overcrowded. Had fun with the body work.

Listed locally?

Not listed yet...just parked it in front of the high school for the weekend. Asking 6K. 51k miles because it was only used as a plow truck. Very little highway driving. Bought it in Alaska, and brought it with me when I moved to Tahoe. I'm the second owner. 400 engine (all stock), c6 trans, add a leaf springs, new tires, stereo with amps, etc. Runs great...current smog. Interior redone two years ago. Plow included. Not sure where to list it..Craigs list, Reno paper? Who knows. I just know it's gotta go.

I think that's a pretty reasonable asking price

Good...wasn't sure where to start. Plow alone is worth 4K. Hopefully someone will buy it who can really use it. Been a great truck for me. I used to go around the neighborhood after a snowstorm and pull people out, then plow their driveway for no charge. Once in a while they'd force $20 or a bottle of wine on me, but I just thought it was fun. Gonna miss it.

You can buy a NEW Western for that money. In my neck of the woods an old cable operated Western is about $500. Because that`s all they are worth. The truck is very nice though. I like the look.

Maybe so...but then again, no solenoids to fail, simple operation and all it has to do is lift and tilt. I like it better than the solenoid operated ones because you can "feather" the controls to keep it from slamming down and scaring all the neighbors. Plus only one solenoid for the pump. I've used both. Not many plows available that haven't been beat. Mine is like new. Been plowing with it for nearly 30 years. Just my biased opinion, though. I chose the color because you don't have to wax it, buff it, etc. Just wash it. Plus it was easy to spray and no clear coat required. Summit Racing Hot Rod Black acrylic urethane. Tough stuff.

Where is this rig located? Is it road worthy for long distance travel?

I think he's on the west coast according to some of his "smog" posts....sounds like Cali.....but then why does he have a plow on it?

Being that far might make the cost creep up a bit for time and transport.....DAMNIT.....things like this just don't come around very often!

Sounds like he's up Lake Tahoe CA area Ken ...... gets cold and they have a fantastic ski resort up there.
Maybe you could talk Austin into extending his detailing trip further west through Vancouver area then down through washington and oregon to california and work his way back with your new Truck smilietease

I'd have to give him a cool $1500-2000 in cash just for fuel eh? Man, I want this rig bad.....but clear cross country sure changes the price.

Yeah i keep forgetting just how big your country is Ken .... i looked it up and its just over 3000 miles (or one standard oil change interval) - at least 300 gal of fuel and then accom and tucker for at least 5 days.
I wonder what it would cost to put on the train? - getting it hauled by truck would most likely be eye wateringly expensive too

Look at snowfall amounts for Donner Pass area/Truckee, CA. They get some MAJOR snowfall.
