Gone in Sixty Seconds...

Sorry, guys. I haven't been on the forum since yesterday. I parked it in front of the high school in Truckee (local sales lot...) and got a call as soon as I got back from parking it. Met the kid and his dad, they took it for a spin, offered me $5500 an it's GONE! Sure gonna miss it though. Yes, by the way, we do get TONS of snow. 6500 ft in the Sierras.

Maybe...but cash in hand from a quick sale is always good!

Yeah i keep forgetting just how big your country is Ken .... i looked it up and its just over 3000 miles (or one standard oil change interval) - at least 300 gal of fuel and then accom and tucker for at least 5 days.
I wonder what it would cost to put on the train? - getting it hauled by truck would most likely be eye wateringly expensive too

When I bought my 77 over 4 years ago, I got prices for carting it across the country and prices ranged from $1500-2000 covered.

I've been looking Duncan....everything up here has swiss cheese for it's frame!

That was fast.....I'm super jealous!

Not surprising - a 'dent' supplied with a plow = instant sale

Thanks for all the kind words. The guy who bought it is a 19 yr old kid who talked his dad into fronting him the extra cash (he had $4500 saved up).. After they got back from the test drive, he said if his son abused it, he'd confiscate it and use it to plow his LONG driveway. Glad to see it go to a good home. He must have made it home to Reno, because I never got a call that he was stranded. Yes...I gave him my number. Like I said before (somewhere). I fixed the rust because I wouldn't sell anything I wouldn't be glad to buy myself. Sounds hokey, but works for me.

I'll probably still lurk around here, though. Good stuff. Now I'm down to a 90 GMC, 14 GMC diesel, 01 Audi A6 turbo, and a 79 MGB (also for sale). Sorry for mentioning the GMC's, but I bought a new 40' fifthwheel, so I needed the towing power. Got a deal. Other GMC is my wife's kayak truck.

Dang, by the time I get in to read this thread, the sale is done!

I was going to say that a truck like that would fetch probably 7-8k, not 6. I don't know anything about the plow's value, so I won't pretend to be an expert.

Good job on the sale, the paint looked pretty cool on there.

Well...my wife found the original paperwork, and I bought the truck with plow in Alaska in 1995 for $5000. So I figure almost twenty years of use and a $400 paint job with money left over is a good enough thing. Still gonna miss it this winter though. Have to pay for a snow removal service....yuk! Just like every other "part timer" which I am definitely not!
